I was looking for a flight from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Istanbul (Turkey) and the prices were quite high because it was really last minute. I needed to leave in a few days.
So I thought of a few ways to make the most out of my money, and I started researching about layovers. The fun you can have with them! Below I’m going to list down 3 airlines that do very nice layovers.
The direct flight from KL to Istanbul is RM2780, and my flights with layovers were RM2840. That’s an extra RM60 or 20$. And I got one whole day in Amsterdam and another day in Paris when I return.
This is the summary of my flight booking.
As you can see, I’ll be in Amsterdam very early in the morning and I’ll have the rest of the day there. Then I’ll make make my way to the airport at 10pm for my flight at 12.45am. Perfect.
When doing these connection flights, make sure you have your luggage checked all the way through to your final destination. Or not you’ll have to look for a luggage storage in the airport. Not only do you have to pay a hefty amount for storage, you’ll be wasting precious time in the airport waiting for your luggage.
What do you do then when everything is in your checked in luggage? You DON’T put everything in your checked in luggage! Make sure to keep the stuff you need like toothbrush and toothpaste, face wash, a small towel, mint or whatever you need to freshen up. You’ll be thankful for it later.
Like I promised above, these are some of the airlines that give really good layovers.(I’m absolutely not paid to say this!)
2. Air France
Air France does a lot of stops in Paris! Just imagine having 20 hours in Paris without having to worry about accommodation or luggages!
I hope this post has somehow inspired you to do more during your travels! As always, happy travels
