I had the absolute delight of flying with Turkiye Balloons, and up till today, I still tell my friends how good their pilots are, how timely each service was and how safe I felt throughout.
I’m going to run by what happened on that day.
First, we got picked up at the hotel at 3.40am. They picked us up on the dot, and I really mean on the dot. So off we went in a van to Turkiye Balloon’s headquarters where payments were made for the hot air balloon ride and a buffet breakfast was served.
Then, after permission was given to fly, we went on another van to get to the place where all the hot air balloons were.
Watching them use the fire to lift the balloon up was really exiting (my mouth was open the whole time!). Then we were given instructions to go into the basket of the balloon, with the staffs from Turkiye Balloons were directing us along the way.
There was a photographer with a DSLR taking photographs, but the photographs he take will be printed and sold for 10TL at the end of the balloon ride (if you want to get it of course!).
About 4-5 minutes after getting in, up up we went. It was amazing. I was in the basket with 16 other people and it didn’t feel to crowded at all. I had more than enough space to move around to take photographs.
Erdal, the owner of Turkiye Balloons and our pilot of the day oozed nothing but professionalism, all the while cracking jokes. He made sure to flip the balloon around constantly, so everyone has a chance to have an unobstructed view and take photographs of both sides. We were timed to go up exactly as the sun was rising!
But I have to admit that amongst such splendid landscape and view of the other balloons, I couldn’t give much attention to the sunrise! There was just so much to see and enjoy.
Our flight lasted for 1 hour and 2 minutes. Landing went smoothly as they already have a team of people waiting with a van. As I got helped out of the basket, a table was being set up where we landed. They worked so quickly, but precisely that seeing them get the table ready was nice to watch!
I cannot give more praises to Turkiye Balloons, they didn’t leave any mistakes for me to criticise upon. I’ve attached a link to their website here, check it out!
